Donatello - Master of Renaissance Sculpture
Donatello - Master of Renaissance Sculpture Donatello was also known as: Donato di Niccolo di Betto Bardi Donatello's Accomplishments Donatello was noted for his superb command of sculpture. One of the foremost sculptors of the Italian Renaissance, Donatello was a master of both marble and bronze and had an extensive knowledge of ancient sculpture. Donatello also developed his own style of relief known as schiacciato (flattened out). This technique involved extremely shallow carving and utilized light and shadow to create the full pictorial scene. Occupations: Artist, Sculptor Artistic Innovator Places of Residence and Influence: Italy: Florence Important Dates: Born: c. 1386, GenoaDied: Dec. 13, 1466, Rome About Donatello: The son of Niccolà ² di Betto Bardi,à a Florentine wool carder, Donatello became a member of Lorenzo Ghibertis workshop by the time he was 21. Ghiberti had won theà commission to make the bronze doors of the Baptistery of the cathedral in Florence in 1402, and Donatello very likely assisted him on this project.à The earliest work that can definitely be attributed to him, a marble statue of David, shows the clear artistic influence of Ghiberti and the International Gothic style, but he soon developed a powerful style of his own. By 1423, Donatello had mastered the art of sculpting in bronze. Sometime around 1430, he was commissioned to create a bronze statue of David, although who his patron may have been is up for debate. The David is the first large-scale, free-standing nude statue of the Renaissance. In 1443, Donatello went to Padua to construct a bronze equestrian statue of a famous, recently-deceased Venetian condottiere, Erasmo da Narmi. The pose and the powerful style of the piece would influence equestrian monuments for centuries to come. Upon returning to Florence, Donatello discovered that a new generation of sculptors had overtaken the Florentine art scene with excellent marble works. His heroic style had been eclipsed in his home city, but he still received commissions from outside Florence, and he remained fairly productive until he died at about aged eighty.à Although scholars know a good deal about Donatellos life and career, his character is difficult to assess. He never got married, but he had many friends in the arts. He did not receive a formal higher education, but he acquired considerable knowledge of ancient sculpture. At a time when an artists work was regulated by guilds, he had the temerity to demand a certain amount of freedom of interpretation. Donatelloà was greatly inspired byà ancient art, and much of his work would embody the spirit of classical Greece and Rome, but he was spiritual as well asà innovative, and he took his art to a level that would see few rivals besides Michelangelo.

Word Choice Historical vs. Historic - Proofread My Paper
Word Choice Historical vs. Historic - Proofread My Paper Word Choice: Historical vs. Historic Even native English speakers get ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠and ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠mixed up, as many assume they mean the same thing. There is, however, a difference. And when it comes to academic writing, accuracy is everything. Make sure you use the terms ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠and ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠correctly in your work! Historical (Related to History) The word ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠is a general term meaning ââ¬Å"related to history.â⬠It can therefore be used when referring to history or past events: Historical records show that Chicagoââ¬â¢s population grew quickly between 1850 and 1900. It can also be used when referring to something that is based in the past: Works of historical fiction are based in the past, but they donââ¬â¢t report true events. Just in case you thought Long John Silver was an actual pirate. But in all cases, ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠refers to history or the past in general. Historic (Of Historical Importance) The word ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠has a more specific meaning, since it refers to something that has particular importance in history. This can be either something notable from the past: Nixonââ¬â¢s resignation was a historic moment in U.S. politics. Not a crook, eh? Or it can be something from more recent times, or even from the present day, that seems noteworthy in comparison with past events: The Chicago Cubsââ¬â¢ historic 2016 World Series victory will be remembered by fans forever. The key thing to remember is that ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠is used when something stands out from history. Historical or Historic? Although these terms are sometimes used interchangeably, itââ¬â¢s crucial to distinguish between them in academic writing for the sake of clarity. This can be difficult, since something can be both ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠and ââ¬Å"historic.â⬠For instance, the Declaration of Independence is a ââ¬Å"historicalâ⬠artifact (i.e., an object from history). But itââ¬â¢s also a ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠document (i.e., a document of historical importance). A historic historical moment. One trick is to keep in mind that ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠and ââ¬Å"specificâ⬠both end in ââ¬Å"-ic,â⬠and that ââ¬Å"historicâ⬠is more specific than ââ¬Å"historical.â⬠Remember: Historical = Related to or from the past Historic = Of historical importance

Zara Company Business Model Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Zara Company Business Model - Essay Example Gap Inc. commonly known as Gap is a multi-national clothing and accessories retailer in America. Its headquarters is currently in San Francisco, California. However, it also has some of its design offices London, San Francisco and London. The companyââ¬â¢s brand name is Gap, and it sells clothing to all groups of people ranging from males, females, and children. It operates five principal divisions namely; Banana Republic, Piperlime, the namesake banner, Athleta, and Old Navy. It has outsourced its production to China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, among others. Additionally, some of its products are also manufactured in Central America. Some of its strengths that have enabled it to remain relevant in the market include; brand recognition, multiple stores worldwide, segmented markets, product utility, among others (Maheshwari, 2012). However, it failed to acknowledge the importance of its customers by paying lots of attention to its expansion strategies, instead of meeting the customer needs. It is a fact that expansion strategies can only be successful when apposite research is done. Concentrating on expansion strategies is correct for several stores only when they have a strong foothold in the market, or when their customers are extremely loyal. However, these two fundamental factors were not present in Gapââ¬â¢s case. Gap focused on expanding its stores by cutting expenditures in some areas of the company. This resulted in the loss of the companyââ¬â¢s core values, goals, and objectives.... This resulted in the loss of the companyââ¬â¢s core values, goals and objectives (Moin, 2011). In the long run, its competitors such as TJX, Ross Stores, Wal-Mart, just to mention but a few moved into the industry; thus, grasping a strong prominence. Additionally, these retailers were smaller compared to Gap; thus, they did not find difficulties in keeping up with the changing needs of the industry. Gap Inc. inability to quickly respond to the changes in the industry led to a decline in its sales and dividends. Disruptive Business Model Disruptive business model refers to a business idea that is extremely different from the way business is normally cond ucted. Therefore, it contributes to total interruption of the entire industry leading to market revolution, and not the customary market evolution. This type of business model normally leads immense tectonic shifts in the behavior of customers, market upheavals, as well as change of the market share as innovators of the novel disruptive model roll out the revolutionary service or product. An example of this model was demonstrated by Dell through its direct-to-consumer retail model opposing the archetypal retail store front. Dellââ¬â¢s new model served customers at a fairly cheap price and it put in place the most current components effectively compared to the archetypal store-front retailers. After five years of its existence, several store-based

Why Communications Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Why Communications - Essay Example Without communication, it may be impossible for other people to know what their colleagues think or like. As such, it is important for people to exchange information in order for them to understand each other. We use communication in all facets of our life. For instance, we socialize through communication since we use it to exchange information. This also helps us to create mutual understanding among us so that our communities can be habitable if we understand each other. Conflicts in a given society are minimised if people understand each other through communication. Another important element about communication that makes it valuable in our lives is that it differs from place to place. There are also different types of communication, for instance, the most common ones are verbal and non verbal communication. In as far as non verbal communication is concerned, it can be noted that there are different signs that are used to convey meaning between two people involved. There is need for one to understand different signs used by other groups of people in order to communicate effectively with such people. Another important issue that should be taken into consideration with regards to non verbal communication is that signs differ from place to place. It can also be seen that communication skills are required especially in verbal communication when one is to achieve his or her desired goals. In business for example, there are different communication skills that are used in order to achieve the desired goals. For instance, the communicator ought to use persuasive speech in order to appeal to the interests of the targeted people or customers. This in turn can compel them to buy the products offered. Therefore, persuasion is a very important component of communication. There are different concepts that characterise communication in different scenarios. The message itself is a very important

Robin Hood Essay Example for Free
Robin Hood Essay Robin Hood has several problems that need to be addressed. The main issues arising that he should address first is the fact that his band has grown and is continuing to grow way too quickly, all while money and food are running out. As the numbers of Merrymen are growing, travelers are finding alternate routes through the forest to avoid apprehension, which has resulted in a decline in the bandââ¬â¢s revenue. These changes must be addressed along with the structuring and training of the ever-growing band of Merrymen. Analysis: Need for new strategy Robin Hood is definitely in need of a fresh strategy in response to external happenings. He needs to reduce the number of new recruits, find other ways to find provisions for his gang, delegate tasks more, enforce more discipline, and join forces with the barons. Robin Hood needs to figure out how to change the fact that the travelers are beginning to avoid the forest to protect their belongings even though this is adding cost and inconvenience to them. Robinââ¬â¢s current plan to force the Sheriff out of Nottingham is not working. The Sheriff is continuously using powerful connections to apply added pressure to Robin and the Merrymen. He has more money and more men. Alternative Solutions: Joining the Barons Robin Hood thought has about just killing the sheriff, but that would be pointless. It would not improve the situations at hand; it would only quench his thirst for personal revenge. The best decision that Robin hood could make would be to just join the barons to collect the ransom to release King Richard. It is risky but it is less risky than doing what he is presently doing which is nothing.. Although it would be a dangerous decision, by joining them, there will no longer be a need to steal from the rich, the sheriff would not be in power; therefore his threat would be minimal, and King Richard would then be able to answer to all the peasantââ¬â¢s needs. It is pretty much a win-win for Robin Hood and his gang. Conclusion: Even though Robin Hood does have other options, joining the barons seems to be the most beneficial to him and his merrymen. Robin Hoodââ¬â¢s Mission and Vision Statements- Because Robin Hoodââ¬â¢s initial mission to ââ¬Å"rob the rich and give to the poorâ⬠is no longer effective, and because the organization is changing, their mission statement has to be revised. Their main mission immediately needs to be to minimize the number of new recruits. Their mission statement should now focus on the existing men in the gang, and how to maximize all resources. This is the same with Robin Hoodââ¬â¢s vision. His vision was once to just get rid of the Sheriff, but that was not working out so well for him. A new vision should be to focus on becoming joined with the barons and the ways that they can run the Sheriff out of town all together. Robin Hood has only had plans and visions for the present, but he now needs to make long term plans for the future. This will help him always be prepared, and keep his chances down low of being beat out by the Sherriff.

Coparison Between Two Guitars: Ibanez 453 Rvc And The Gibson Les Paul :: essays research papers
Coparison Between Two Guitars: Ibanez 453 RVC and the Gibson Les Paul The paper I have written and know alot about is a contrast on two really well known and popular guitars. One which is the Gibson Les Paul, and the other which is the Ibanez 453 RVC. Both guitars may look alike to some, and to some they may sound alike as well, but are they really alike? Starting with the bodys, the Gibson Custom Les Paul is made of solid mahogeny wood, which gives the guitar a more Classical look and feel and also a much better and clearer sound. The Gibson is a more luxiourous guitar for which it is better for classical rock and light heavy metal as opposed to the Ibanez which is excellent for hard rock and heavy metal. Going further up the guitar, you have what are called the pickups. A pickup is a really sensative box that is attached to the body in between the bottom of the neck and the bottom of the bridge. The purpose of a pickup is to "pick up" the sounds of the notes or chords that are being strummed. There are many different types of pickups; for instance, the Gibson Les Paul has pickups that are called Humbuckers, which are much higher and of a better quality than the pickups on an Ibanez. The Ibanez comes with regular music store pickups that are not bad but do not have the quality of the Humbuckers. So having better quality means that the pickups are more sensative; being more sensative means that the guitar can put out clearer and higher quality sound.Moving to the lower part of the guitar, both guitars have knobs. The purpose of these knobs are to control the different types of sounds that you want to produce. The Gibson has four controls, but the Ibanez only has two; having only two knobs instead of four means that the Ibanenz has less of a selection or variety on the sound that you want opposed to the Gibson having more control over the sound that you like and the sound that you need. The Gibson having volume and tone for each pickup allows you to adjust the sound to the way you like it, while the Ibanez has volume and tone for only the one pickup, which controls the sound. The next piece that is connected to every guitar is the neck. Many guitars have many different types of necks varying from length, width, thickness, and different types of wood. The wood on the neck of the Ibanez is poplar wood,

Calculate the Window of Vulnerability Essay
The WoV covers a timeline from the moment a vulnerability is discovered and identified by the IT people. It also includes the time taken to fix the vulnerability. It is also important to explore the device(s) that were targeted by the attack. In this instance, being the SMB server within the LAN. The window of vulnerability is 8 days. 1. The WoV covers a timeline from the moment a vulnerability is discovered and identified by the IT people. 2. The critically of the vulnerability is that while the solution is being search, the network may be hacked and information may be jeopardize. 3. The amount of time between when a vulnerability is discovered and when it is eliminated is usually 8 days. 4. Early detection and responsible reporting helps to reduce the risk that a vulnerability might be exploited before it is repaired. 1 What vulnerabilities exist for this workgroup LAN based on the advisories? List five of them. 2401593 CVE-2010-3213 2264072 CVE-2010-1886 980088 CVE-2010-0255 975497 CVE-2009-3103 98343 CVE-2010-0817 2. Do any vulnerabilities involve privilege elevation? Is this considered a high priority issue? Only two from the five listed in question one are privileged elevation and identified by the asterisk alongside the CVE number. They are of importance but not considered a high priority issue as asked. 3. Identify and document at least three vulnerabilities and the solutions related to the client configurations. Advisory Number: 977981 Solution: This security update resolves four privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights Advisory Number: 979352 Solution: This security update resolves seven privately reported vulnerabilities and one publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer. The more severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted Web page using Internet Explorer. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights. Advisory Number: 954157 Solution: The update also removes the ability for this codec to be loaded when browsing the Internet with any other applications. By only allowing applications to use the Indeo codec when the media content is from the local system or from the intranet zone, and by preventing Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player from launching the codec at all, this update removes the most common remote attack vectors but still allows games or other applications that leverage the codec locally to continue to function.

Media oriented systems transport
MOST is a technology that employs high speed multimedia network which facilitates common devices like PDA, DVD, radio and many others for the purpose of getting used by them at the lowest cost. The common devices can connect with this network to provide functionality to the end consumers to avail live audio and video having a standardized interface. It provides extendibility and reliability to the devices.Extendibility in the sense that more standardized devices can be easily added to the MOST networks without problems. Reliability compounds to the workability of the devices so that any device following the standard TCP/IP protocol. The reusability feature would enhance the functionality as more devices with a HMI (Human Machine Interface) can interact with each other for using the multimedia features.MOST devise are connected using a ring which feeds the output to the input of the device in a circular manner. The token which travels in the network is a frame which contains streaming data segment, packet data and control information (MOST.com). The streaming data flows in the ring at the same speed the network is running. The synchronous feature of the data flowing in the network is at the same speed and retains the quality of the data. However packet data is non-synchronous in nature and may flow in several frames. The amount of streaming data and packet data forms a larger portion of the frame and the ratio is according to the application requirements. Control data on the other hand forms a little portion of the frame and contain the control information. It signals of the information into parts, in every frame so that it is grouped and regrouped by the receiving device for the knowledge of the placement of segment and packet data. The MOST devices make sure that it follows functional and hierarchical system models which can be interchanged with other devices in the network to promote reusability for the various functionalities of the devices in the network. The components are modular in nature which promotes the inheritance and reusability of the modules to be combined with other modules. It also facilitates re-partitioning of the model for communication. For use in different devices other than vehicles, the model can be organized in a manner that it fits any architecture. The physical layer of the technology relies on the ring which the MOST topology follows. It pushes a frame into the network which travels and loads and reloads data to the connecting device in the network. According to the decided transfer of data, the related audio and video would be transmitted to the connecting device for its display.MOST was not aware to me before this assignment. The networking concepts for ring topology and frame distribution of packets made sure that the background is well built to understand the concept and idea of MOST and its usage.MOST was quite different concept to sharing of real time multimedia data over the network. In comparison to compan y LAN or WAN it offers more reliability, security and is independent of architecture. The underlying nature of the network is completely ignored in this technology. The functionality of the devices is broken into modules that can be merged with other modules in the network to share the functionality and modular approach.A companyââ¬â¢s LAN or WAN would not be independent to architecture issues and reusability issues are quite absent in the LAN or WAN. The MOST technology makes sure that it can render functionality like architecture neutral, platform dependent and network architecture independent.References / BibliographyMOST.com. The New SAT Writing Whats Changing
The New SAT Writing What's Changing SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips March 5, 2016 shall be a monumental day in SAT history. The format of the SAT will officially change for the first time since 2005. Each section of the test, including SAT Writing, will undergo significant changes. In this article, I'll explain the content and format changes to SAT Writing and provide guidance for how to prepare for the SAT Writing and Language section. If you follow the advice in this guide, you'll be prepared to get an amazing score on the SAT Writing in2016 and beyond. Big Overall Changes SAT Writing will now be known as SAT Writing and Language. Furthermore,SAT Writing and Language and SAT Reading will be combined to give you one section score out of 800, and the maximum score on the new SAT is 1600. Youââ¬â¢ll receive an SAT Reading and Writing score out of 800 and an SAT Math score out of 800. On the new SAT Writing, you'll have 35 minutes to complete 44 questions, and Writing and Language will always be the second section of the test. Also, the essay is no longer part of SAT Writing. The essay is separate, and itââ¬â¢s optional for test-takers. However, keep in mind that some of the colleges you apply to may require you to do the essay. Sorry. milena mihaylova/Flickr 4 KeyChanges to Format and Content In addition to the significant overall changes to SAT Writing, the content and look of the SAT Writing section will be dramatically different. #1: All Questions Will Be Passage-Based On the new SAT Writing, none of the questions will be based on individual sentences in isolation. There won't be anysentence improvement or identify the errorquestions. All of the questions will come from 4 passages, and the presentation of the questions will look almost identical to that on the ACT English section. This is what the SAT Writing questions will look like: The questions will ask you to edit an underlined portion of the passage, direct you to a specific location in the passage, or have you think about the passage as a whole. You'll be tested on your knowledge of grammar, writing style, and the content of the passages. #2: There Are Fewer Grammar Questions and More Style Questions The old SAT Writing emphasized specific grammatical rules like subject-verb agreement, parallel structure, and equivalent comparisons. The questions testing your knowledge of these grammar rules could be tricky because these rules are often violated, and the grammatical errors were presented in ways that made them difficult to spot. The old SAT was notorious for using tricks to disguise common grammar errors. On the new SAT, there are far fewer questions testing your knowledge of these rules, and there are more writing style questions. The new SAT emphasizes writing style topics like wordiness and redundancy, word choice, and macro logic. Instead of focusing on specific grammar rules, the new SAT focuses on testing your knowledge of clear, concise, and logical writing. #3: It TestsPunctuation On the old SAT, punctuation was only really tested on questions having to do with run-on sentences. However, on the new SAT, youââ¬â¢ll have to know when and how to use commas, semicolons, and colons. Don't be too scared, though; the punctuation rules for the new SAT aren't that complicated if you take the time to learn them. Hereââ¬â¢s an example punctuation question from one of the College Boardââ¬â¢s practice tests. Check out #4: This type of question didnââ¬â¢t appear on the old SAT. For this question, you need to know that commas separate items in a list. The comma after ââ¬Å"yogurt manufacturersâ⬠indicates that you shouldnââ¬â¢t use a semicolon or colon after ââ¬Å"food scientists.â⬠In answer choice D, the comma after ââ¬Å"andâ⬠is unnecessary. The correct answer is C. #4: You'll See Graphs and Charts Additionally, on the redesignedSAT Writing, there will be data interpretation questions on which you'll have to determine how and if the data from a graph or chart fits in the passage. On the old SAT Writing, there were no graphs or charts, so this is a significant change. Take a look at this example question: Weââ¬â¢re looking for the lowest temperature; therefore, we need to find the lowest average daily low in the winter, which is 12 degrees. The correct answer is B. How to Prepare for the New SAT Writing Now that we know the major changes to the redesignedWriting section, let's discuss how to study for SAT Writing and Language. #1: Focus on Writing Style On the old SAT Writing, memorizing and understanding a handful of grammatical rules would enable you to get a good score. Now, because writing style is emphasized, you should pay more attention to word choice, sentence construction, and paragraph construction. There is more reading comprehension incorporated into the redesignedSAT Writing. You need to understand why certain words or sentences are used in a given passage, or if they should be replaced with other words or sentences. On the old SAT Writing, improving paragraphs was the smallest subsection. On the new version, those types of questions have become more important. I recommend reviewing the content-based style questions on the improving paragraphs subsection because there are more content-based style questions on the new SAT. What are content-based style questions? Basically, they're the questions that require reading comprehension. On the old SAT Writing, on the improving paragraphs subsection, there were grammar questions asking how to revise or combine sentences. Additionally, there were style questions that asked whether to add or delete sentences from the passage and where to place certain sentences within a passage. These questions testyour reading comprehension and understanding of the passage, and you'll see a lot of themon the new Writing section. Here's an example of a content-based style question from the old SAT Writing improving paragraphs subsection: The correct answer has to logically follow sentence 7 and connect to sentence 8. It's essential that you understand the content and purpose of these sentences to determine the right answer. These types of questions rely on your reading comprehension, and they play a larger role on the new SAT Writing. You can use these types of questions from the old SAT Writing to help prepare for the new test. There are more reading comprehension questions on the new SAT Writing. (cheerfulmonk/Flickr) #2: Study ACT English The new SAT Writing is strikingly similar to ACT English, and even though there is limited information about the new SAT, there is a wealth of information about the ACT. Undoubtedly, studying for ACT English will help you get ready for the new SAT Writing. Many of our previous articles on ACT English will help you prepare for the new SAT Writing. You should review these articles: The Best Way to Approach ACT English Passages Everything You Need to Know About Commas for the ACT Punctuation on ACT English Wordiness and Redundancy in ACT English Macro Logic in ACT English Transition Questions on ACT English Add and Delete Questions on ACT English Relevance Questions on ACT English Formality on ACT English Furthermore, even though there are no graphs or charts on ACT English, there are on the ACT Science section. If you need more practice interpreting data from graphs or charts, you can practice with questions from ACT Science. Keep in mind that most of the ACT Science questions aremore complexthan the data interpretation questions on the new SAT Writing. #3: Donââ¬â¢t Completely Neglect Studying Grammar There are still grammar questions on the redesignedSAT Writing, even though knowing grammar rules isnââ¬â¢t as important on the new SAT. Check out this grammar question from one of the new SAT practice tests: This question tests two grammar rules that were often tested on the old SAT: subject-verb agreement and pronoun agreement. The subject of the sentence is Harvey Houses, which is plural; therefore, you must use a plural verb. Furthermore, because the pronoun ââ¬Å"itsâ⬠refers to the Harvey Houses, you must use the plural pronoun "their." The correct answer is B. Here are some of our grammar articles that are relevant for the new SAT. The links are for ourACT English grammar articles because the presentation of the questions is basically the same as that of the new SAT: Verb Tenses and Forms Pronoun Agreement Subject-Verb Agreement Run-on Sentences and Fragments Idioms Make sure that you know and understand each of the grammar rules that is tested on the new SAT Writing. Also, you should be able to correctly answer practice questions related to each rule. Grammar nerds like me can still have fun on the SAT!(George Williams/Flickr) #4: Review the New SAT Practice Tests The College Board released four SAT practice tests. You should practice the SAT Writing questions and review the answers and explanations. From my experience with the old SAT and the ACT, the best way to prepare is by practicing with real or realistic questions. Khan Academyalso has practice questions and videos explaining examples from the new SAT. Use these free resources available to you to get ready to get a wonderful SAT Writing score. #5: Get Your Read On As I've mentioned, on the new SAT Writing, reading comprehension is more important than on the old SAT Writing. Additionally, theredesignedWriting section more strongly emphasizes knowledge of vocabulary and an intuitive grasp of English. The more you read, the more youââ¬â¢ll strengthen these skills that are necessary to do well on the redesignedSAT Writing.High-level reading willbe especially helpful. If you can do college-level academic reading or read articles from The New Yorker or The Atlantic, youââ¬â¢ll be preparing yourself to excel on the new version of the test. Do You Even Have to Take the New SAT? If youââ¬â¢ve already taken the old SAT and youââ¬â¢re in the class of 2017 or 2018, you may not not need to take the new SAT.However, if youââ¬â¢re not happy with your score on the old SAT, you should take the new SAT or the ACT. Find out if you got a good score on the old SAT. Also, read our guide on the new SAT vs. the ACT to help decide which test is best for you.For current high school juniors, we generally recommend taking the ACT because there is much more available material to prepare for the ACT vs. the new SAT. However, you should still take a look at the new SAT practice tests to determine if the new SAT may be a better fit for you and your skill set. What's Next? How to Use Flash Cards to Study Chemistry
How to Use Flash Cards to Study Chemistry Flash cards can be a great study aid. You can use them to help memorize facts, lists, and structures as well as to reinforce important concepts. Heres how to prepare and use flash cards to study. Learning Facts with Flash Cards Start with a stack of blank index cards. On one side of a card, write a question or name of a structure you need to memorize. On the back of the card, write the answer. Limit yourself to one fact per card.Prepare as many cards as you need.To use the cards effectively, view the question and quiz yourself. Do you know the answer? Check the back of the card. If you answered correctly, set the card aside. If you were wrong, place the card on the back of your stack so that you will see it again.Proceed through your stack of cards. Set aside cards you get right and continue through cards you get wrong until you have gotten all questions/answers correct. Now shuffle the cards and repeat the process.Practice makes perfect, so if you get frustrated, set the cards aside and come back to them. Go through your cards every day (or more often, if you are cramming). Memorizing a List with Flash Cards If you are memorizing an ordered list, try to guess the next card before you look at it.
